20: Wet & Damp

It's so wet and damp which is not good. The mural is still okay (despite a big man-sized footprint in the middle and the tape cordoning off the wall having been ripped off twice - and scattered further down the road, some people!). I'll go pop up some tape just to discourage people 'using' that corner, grr.

The Crowdfunder went very well, 4 days and the money for the coating was raised - thank you kind supportive people - and everyone who has been so positive. I've pencilled in the application on the 23rd May with Community Clean, weather permitting. I'm learning so much.

In the meantime, I've been refining the design and responding to how the colour appears on the wall. I've also been busy making templates to stick up and see just how the sizing of the elements work and also for an outline. The Kingfisher is huge - whoop. The ruler is 60cm long. Doreen said once she saw a Kingfisher very early in the morning.

I really hoped the kids could come down today and tomorrow, but we'll have to see what tomorrow is like. Plan B is to continue and leave some sections and then arrange a weekend (or half-term) for Youth First to come and paint - the fox, the ducks, but it means leaving it uncoated for longer, nerve-wracking.

When I walked out this morning at 10am if felt like it was very lightly raining, moist air. I popped down to the tunnel to check and things were looking pretty damp, better but after spotting a 2p-sized bubble in to be fox corner earlier in the week (which has disappeared, phew) - I don't want to take any risks as it looks like rain tomorrow.

However next week is looking better (deja vous) and so I've made a new plan:
Tues 17th April finish the vegetation of the small wall
(Let the big wall dry out next week before stabilising Friday night)
Sat 21 - Mon 23 April paint the vegetation and Kingfisher big wall
Sat 28 - Sun 29 April Youth First come and paint the animals - ducks, fox, ladybird, bee - if this can be arranged
Mon 30 April - Communityclean.co.uk come and put a protective coating on the outer walls
First launch: Thursday 10th May

May Half-term 26 May - 3 June paint the tunnel inside and arches with YF
